Woodworking Workshop - Making Boxes

For this first workshop, we will learn basic woodworking techniques and skills: hammering, sawing, drilling, and measuring.  Using these simple skills, there is unlimited potential for students to learn how to build anything – from a simple shoe box to a full-size family house.  In addition, we will explore a layer of science, mathematics, and engineering.  These topics are inherent to woodworking projects. For example, a hammer is a simple machine – a lever - an extension of your hand and arm.  A nail is a wedge.
